I’m not sure how many of the people in this community consider faith to be a large part of their lives. I don’t talk about it much in my work, and maybe I should more, but faith is ultimately the central pillar holding up all other values and principles I apply in my life.
This got me thinking and reflecting more on what I pray for in my daily routine. To me, prayer isn’t asking for wishes to come true or a future filled with good fortune and prosperity. Prayer is about asking for strength for yourself and others during hard times. What we are seeing today is some hard times for many. Even if your life isn’t directly affected by the major culture shifts and political toxicity we see happening today, there are many people who are directly affected who need strength now more than ever.
If faith and prayer is something important in your life, I hope you find the time to pray for strength for those who need it. Pray for the officers who are being seen as the enemy and risk their lives to faithfully protect and serve others. Pray for the families who go unprotected because officers aren’t allowed or confident enough to do their jobs. Pray that we can all find the strength to heal our wounds before inflicting more pain on each other. Pray we find our moral compass again and stand united. We are all God’s children.
