School Email About The Derek Chauvin Trial

As I'm about to sign off after finishing the second-last review of The True Believer (releasing tomorrow morning), I get an email from my daughter's school district. Mind you, this is for the whole district which covers 4K-12th grade. This email is about the Derek Chauvin Trial and how to support students and families through this traumatic experience (before the trial has ended).

They start the email by condemning racism - okay, they didn't really define what they mean by that (which is sad I even have to question that) but I guess I'm fine with it.

The second paragraph is this:

"As the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, for his role in the death of George Floyd, moves to deliberation, the [Omitted] School District would like to acknowledge the potential impact this trial may have on our students. It is particularly important for us to name that the [Omitted] School District knows that this trial will have a disproportionate impact on Black students and employees."

It seems to me that if this trial has an impact on anyone not directly involved with the trial, it is the residents of Minneapolis who are going to be living in a war zone if the trial doesn't end with a conviction on all accounts (it won't/shouldn't). And even if it would I wouldn't hold my breath on no violence. And if the trial ends with a conviction on all charges, it will be a clear miscarriage of justice because of all the outside influences and pressure where there is obvious reasonable doubt (I heard someone say, quite profoundly, that this is just a reverse O.J. Simpson trial). Either way, kids of any color will not be affected by this trial.

The third paragraph is this:

"We want students, especially Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color, to feel that the [Omitted] School District is a safe place for them. This topic may evoke strong emotions in everyone and we want to attend to the social and emotional needs of every student. Some may want to talk about it to process what happens in our bodies, thoughts, and emotions, while others have a strong emotion to not want to talk about it. We recognize that for some, discussing race-related trauma can be re-traumatizing. As a district we will continue to work towards understanding student experiences and supporting students to process and heal from their trauma."

The coddling of fee-fees here is unbearable. They follow this up by giving a bunch of silly woke resources for clueless parents on how to make your kids woke. You'd think they might put up some resources on "how to avoid drugs" or "how to interact with police," but no, not today you reasonable bastards. It's just another opportunity to get woke. Sorry for my bluntness but it is late and I'm tired and I don't have much analysis for you other than this. Maybe I'll give a more intelligible opinion tomorrow.

What do you guys think?

Should the politicians drink the water if they claim it's safe?

I was listening to some news updates when I heard this CNN clip about the potentially hazardous water in East Palestine, and as soon as I heard her ask the question about whether or not her guest would drink the water, I IMMEDIATELY thought of this clip from South Park. Enjoy.

The Engineering Politics Podcast 53 – Rousseau’s Return

In this episode of The Engineering Politics Podcast, I team up with Truman from @ReturnToReason to interview one of the most intelligent and influential creators in the space of philosophy today.
