Here is another story I'm republishing on Medium. In this article, I cover a popular meme and talking point that way making the rounds when people got fed up with the lockdowns. Little did they know, even though many of us predicted it, we would largely still be in lockdown a year later. The popular talking point is this: if you are against maintaining a lockdown during a pandemic, then you cannot consider yourself pro-life.
The assumption here is vulnerable people will die if we don't lock down and shut down our economy, so any willingness to sacrifice lives for the economy automatically rejects your right to consider yourself pro-life. This claim is absurd on its face, but what I found most interesting about it is it was being pushed by the Right (for the most part), more specifically the anti-Trump Right. Throughout this article I will debunk this dishonest talking point.
