I know many of you don't care about sports, but I've had a bit of a depressing week (in a very first-world sense). I'm a very stress-free person except in one case: sportsball.
My Green Bay Packers lost another championship game that would have taken them to the Super Bowl if they won. This is becoming an annual event. They are good enough to make it to the cusp of an NFL Championship but can never quite make it over the line, at least not for the last 10 years (since they won the Super Bowl during the 2010 season).
Whenever your team loses their bid for the final championship game, much like when your political team loses, there is a ton a speculation as to who will be coming back the next go-around. Since my team has been graced with not one, but two first ballot Hall Of Fame quarterbacks (when most teams have never had one) the prospect of losing that player (being Aaron Rodgers) always seems to grow after every season, especially after the team falls short of expectations. Rumors have been flying around about possible trades or contracts cut short, but I think and hope they'll stay rumors.
I really had no plan on relating this post to politics or my typical material (I really just wanted to vent), but as I'm writing this, I see that there is a connection. President Trump was clearly the quarterback for this new Right-wing movement, and the Right has a decision to make before the next election cycle. Release Donald Trump into free agency - effectively ending his political career - or trade him to another team for social capital - have him start his own party and create some distance - or keep him on the squad to help lead the next movement. I know this is a bit of a loaded question, but what should the Right do?
I was listening to some news updates when I heard this CNN clip about the potentially hazardous water in East Palestine, and as soon as I heard her ask the question about whether or not her guest would drink the water, I IMMEDIATELY thought of this clip from South Park. Enjoy.
