We just went through a point in history where the, so-called, "conspiracy theorists" and "conveyors of misinformation" were significantly more scientifically accurate than the "experts." This article makes the case that "as long as mistakes were made from a place of true compassion and earnestness, there really is no problem." This author clearly hasn't heard the popular axiom, "history is filled with tragedy caused by people with the best of intentions."
There is a great book (that should really be mandatory reading in school) called 'The Road to Serfdom' by F.A. Hayek. A few of the chapters warn of allowing "experts" to make or control public policy. This isn't because they aren't actual experts in their field, but because they become singularly focused on their expertise at the exclusion of other considerations. An expert in contagious diseases will focus on controlling the disease over the economy, childhood education, and rights granted by God. This isn't only a predictable outcome, it's the only logical outcome. Yet, people who criticized how the "experts" handled COVID were ridiculed, depatformed, and denounced as "conspiracy theorists" and "conveyors of misinformation."
The author of this article said we "shouldn't keep score on who was right or wrong." Go fuck yourself.
