I’d like to think I’m a courageous person. Expressing my views on the internet in a culture where it is so easy to get canceled, but the truth is, it doesn’t take as much courage as you think. I work in a relatively apolitical industry, or at least as apolitical as you can get. I have a community here on Locals full of like-minded people who mostly agree on my political views, or at least agrees with my right to express those views with no want to cancel me if they don’t agree with every view I have. I’m in a pretty safe spot, but that isn’t the case for all of us.
If you want to know what real courage looks like, look at my friend @vesperisms. Vesper Stamper is an artist who speaks her mind even if it doesn’t perfectly align with the ideology most popular in the artistic community. The artistic community, if you don’t know this already, is not very forgiving for dissenting opinion against far-Left orthodoxy, yet Vesper does not let this social pressure force her to think like everyone else does. Her actions and behavior are in the true tradition of a real artist – to view the world through a unique lens and form nuanced opinions.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have a long recorded conversation with Vesper Stamper about her responsibilities as an artist, author, illustrator, and podcaster even though we may not perfectly align politically, but that isn’t the only thing we talked about. Vesper released a new book a few weeks ago titled A Cloud Of Outrageous Blue and we spent some time talking about the story telling process. But this post is not about my interview with her.
Tonight, a few Locals creators will be holding a Halloween themed celebration of Vesper Stamper’s new book and we would love it if you’d join. We will have interesting conversations about her book, her life as an artist, her life in general, and we will also have a costume contest. Register now and join us at 8:00 PM Eastern. Feel free to bring a friend and/or a drink!

I was listening to some news updates when I heard this CNN clip about the potentially hazardous water in East Palestine, and as soon as I heard her ask the question about whether or not her guest would drink the water, I IMMEDIATELY thought of this clip from South Park. Enjoy.

In this episode of The Engineering Politics Podcast, I team up with Truman from @ReturnToReason to interview one of the most intelligent and influential creators in the space of philosophy today. Stephen R.C. Hicks is a Professor of Philosophy at Rockford University, Executive Director of the Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship, and Senior Scholar at The Atlas Society. He has written many books including Explaining Postmodernism and Nietzsche and the Nazis. We bring him on to talk about the social and political issues we are currently facing in America, and the West more broadly, and what the collectivist ideas of Jean-Jacques Rousseau might have to do with it.
