The CLEAN vs. the UNCLEAN

I just received an email from my daughter's school about more COVID stupidity. I posted a few days ago about the larger city school district going to virtual learning and how the surrounding school districts typically follow suit. Fortunately, even the woke parents don't want to deal with their kids during the day, so my daughter's school district decided to keep the kids in school. That's a small victory for the kids, but that didn't mean the woke parents wouldn't find SOMETHING to complain about. Karen's are going to Karen (and I hate using that phrase but it's very applicable here).

Woke parents are okay with keeping their kids in school as long as they are clean, but they don't want their kids playing with the unclean.

The school has been sending out a string of emails over the past few days about the new CDC recommendations for COVID quarantine. The CDC now recommends quarantine to be 5 days instead of 10, but woke parents have a big problem with this and immediately came after the school board for following the CDC (which they used to call "following the science" ). Well, "follow the science" no more!

The schools immediately felt the pressure from the small minority of crazed parents and began to reform the few hour old policy to meet their demands. Here is what they came up with:

Students and staff who test positive are now able to return to school earlier than the 10 day isolation period per Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Public Health guidance. Each school building is implementing additional safety measures to correspond to this guidance. These additional safety measures include: (1) Students returning on day 6 will eat lunch in an alternative location, potentially with other positive students until their 10 days are over. (2) Students returning on day 6 will be distanced at least 6 ft. apart while eating snacks. (3) Students returning on day 6 will also be required to wear a mask at recess. (4) If the returning student, who tested positive, is not able to mask or does not strictly mask throughout the day, the student will be sent home and will need to complete their full day 10 isolation period.

[This is directly from the email]

Out of all available options, this school district decided to take the worst possible option: Bring kids back to school and separate the clean from the unclean in a way that will create ostracization and inevitable bullying.

I'm so livid right now, if we weren't on vacation, I'd be doing an enraged livestream expressing my frustration in no uncertain terms. I've been holding off on homeschooling, and I really don't know why, but now it seems like the only choice if we want to give my daughter a decent childhood.

Should the politicians drink the water if they claim it's safe?

I was listening to some news updates when I heard this CNN clip about the potentially hazardous water in East Palestine, and as soon as I heard her ask the question about whether or not her guest would drink the water, I IMMEDIATELY thought of this clip from South Park. Enjoy.
