The Science is the State, and the State is the Science

I've been laying in bed sick over the last few days. Don't worry, it's not COVID related, but I've never been sick so many times in a year than I have this year. But hey, at least it's not super space AIDS, right?

Because I'm laying in bed most of the day I've been binge watching shows. I finished season 2 of The Witcher the day it came out (highly recommend it). I finished season 3 of Secession which was a good show that's beginning to turn into 'Fox News is evil' and the 'GOP is racist' propaganda stream. But I just finished rewatching one of my favorite miniseries of all time.

Chernobyl (on HBO) is one of the best series I've ever watched. It's only 5 episodes long and it pulls no punches when criticizing the paranoid culture found in the USSR. It illuminates how State power demands all possible State flaws to be covered up by propaganda and threats. You are made to believe and if you don't believe hard enough, you are disappeared.

How close is the US to mimicking this behavior?

Well we can't challenge the authority of the state unless it is challenged in the right direction (towards the Left). Criticisms of certain beliefs will get you sensored or banned from the virtual public square. The Science is the State, and the State is the Science. It doesn't count as government coercion if the State forces the free market to force the people to do something or lose their livelihood.

Yeah... I'd say we are getting there.

Should the politicians drink the water if they claim it's safe?

I was listening to some news updates when I heard this CNN clip about the potentially hazardous water in East Palestine, and as soon as I heard her ask the question about whether or not her guest would drink the water, I IMMEDIATELY thought of this clip from South Park. Enjoy.

The Engineering Politics Podcast 53 – Rousseau’s Return

In this episode of The Engineering Politics Podcast, I team up with Truman from @ReturnToReason to interview one of the most intelligent and influential creators in the space of philosophy today.
